- Assess existing financial sources and take action to increase revenue as well as find new revenue sources for the council.
- Consider any reports or observations raised regarding finance.
- Manage and control expenses according to financial procedures in force.
- Prepare budget estimates and ensure expenditures are implemented based on approved budget estimates.
- Handle the management of receipts from the Town Municipal Council as follows:
- Receipt of revenue (General Assessment Tax, Rent, License and Permit, Deposit and Miscellaneous Receipts) at the counter/post/outside collection/.
- Ensure all revenue receipts are recorded in accordance with applicable financial procedures
- Handle the payment process to staff such as emoluments, travel claims and overtime allowance claims and supplier claims.
- Prepare the financial statements of the Pekan Municipal Council
- Prepare monthly financial reports
