The Health and Hawker Division at the Town Municipal Council (MPP) plays an important role in ensuring the well-being of public health as well as the management of hawkers and small businesses. Here are the main functions of this section:
1. Sanitation and Public Health Enforcement
- Carry out monitoring and inspection of the level of cleanliness of business premises, especially food premises such as restaurants, eateries, stalls, and markets.
- Enforcing hygiene regulations in public areas to ensure that the Town remains clean and free from pollution problems.
- Manage public health programs such as hygiene awareness campaigns and prevention of infectious diseases among the community.
2. Control of Infectious Diseases
- Supervise and monitor infectious diseases that may affect the community, as well as coordinate prevention and treatment actions with relevant health agencies.
- Carry out hygiene campaigns to prevent the spread of diseases such as dengue fever, malaria, and leptospirosis.
3. Vendor Management and Licensing
- Issuing hawker licenses for static hawkers, itinerant hawkers, daily town hawkers, night markets, and farmers' markets, as well as monitoring hawking activities to comply with licensing conditions.
- Supervise the placement of hawkers in designated areas, as well as ensure the smooth running of hawking activities without disrupting the flow of traffic and cleanliness of the area.
4. Food Premises Cleanliness Supervision
- Conduct periodic hygiene inspections of food premises such as restaurants, stalls, and markets to ensure compliance with health and hygiene standards.
- Enforcing hygiene requirements in the licensing of food premises as well as taking action against premises that violate hygiene regulations.
5. Vector Control Program Management
- Carry out vector control activities such as fogging to control the fly population and prevent the spread of related diseases before the official Town Council program.
- Implement pest eradication programs such as rats, cockroaches, and flies in market areas, restaurants, and public areas to ensure the cleanliness and health of residents.
6. Health Monitoring of Food Sales Centers
- Monitor food outlets such as canteens, street stalls, and stalls to ensure they comply with hygiene and food safety requirements.
7. Management of the hawker area
- Coordinating the placement of hawkers in strategic locations.
- Provide hawking guidelines that ensure hawking activities are carried out in an orderly manner and do not cause problems to the surrounding community.
8. Issuance of Temporary and Festive Season Permits
- Supervise related activities to ensure smoothness and compliance with enforced regulations.
