Department of Municipal Services in the Town Municipal Council plays an important role in ensuring that municipal services are implemented effectively and comprehensively. This department functions as the backbone in maintaining the cleanliness and management of a conducive environment throughout the Council's administrative area. Through continuous supervision and maintenance, this department is responsible for ensuring that various public services run smoothly and are in line with the needs of the community.
The department is divided into two main sections:
- Department of Health and Hawker: This division plays a major role in regulating hawkers in the areas that have been designated by the Council, including day town, night market, farmer's market, morning market, static/circulating hawker, hawker center and festival hawker. this department is also responsible for monitoring the level of cleanliness in the business premises area, emphasizing the importance of good hygiene practices to avoid any health risks. This division also implements cleanliness programs such as a rat extermination campaign and health counseling to traders and the community, to raise awareness of the importance of cleanliness in daily operations.
- Division of Licensing and Municipal Services: This division is responsible for managing various types of business licenses, including the issuance of temporary permits as well as permanent licensing for businesses operating under the jurisdiction of the Council. This division also ensures that every license application is carefully examined, and approval is given according to the criteria that have been set. In addition, they also oversee public cleaning operations, including solid waste collection and drain maintenance, to ensure that municipal areas are always clean and orderly.
